Career in Industry for AI Safety Researchers

The CIFAR AI Safety Postdoctoral Fellows are funded by the Canadian AI Safety Institute (CAISI) Research Program to work on a Catalyst Project with a Canadian PI affiliated with an AI Institute (Amii, Mila, or Vector Institute). A core objective of the CAISI Research Program is to build Canadian research capacity and critical mass of skills and talent in AI safety. CIFAR regularly organizes training activities for these postdoctoral fellows to support their skills development. This retreat will bring them together in person to learn about the broad AI ecosystem and hear from representatives from various sectors as they explore employment opportunities. I spoke about a career in industry, sharing my personal story, what my job entails, the skills required, and the journey of how you got to where I am today.
